  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am responsible for looking after the hotels we have on sale at TUI. We each have a personal remit of a small handful of countries we look after. Within this role i am responsible for monitoring content we feature on the website, pricing new seasons before they go on sale, as well as monitoring competitor activity

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes definitely. A massive one for me is my presentation skills. I used to be so afraid of presenting the thought of it made me so anxious. But working with such a lovely welcoming team, and having gradual exposure has massively increased my confidence in this. I have also developed skills such as time management.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed my programme so far. I am learning about business administration so it is a great breadth of knowledge to have, and is transferable to every business. Its just great to have a grounding wherever i go in the future. Exams were never my forte so assessment based learning has really benefited me

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I must admit my experience has been rocky. ive had a few assessor changes as well as the learning being brought in house at TUI. Each time this set me back as i had to get used to having a new assesor and also learn how they like to work and delver the apprenticeship

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager and senior manager are so so supportive. I couldnt ask for a better management team, they are always willing to help in whatever way they can and provide me with the time i need to complete the apprenticeship. I have regular catch ups with both to keep them in the loop of my progress

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider can be slow at answering his emails and hasnt always got the best availability for meetings, This has become very apparent while working on reduced hours due to the furlough scheme. While i appreciate this is in no way his fault, it can still be frustrating when i need meetings, or a quick answer to a questio

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As i mentioned before, its given me a much better grounding and understanding of how business work. It has improved my understanding of relationships with stakeholders, understand the structure of businesses, as well as being aware of the ethical issues businesses face to. I think the information i have learnt has been extremely beneficial

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes. This has obviously been reduced currently due to home working and covid. But pre pandemic we had so many social events and catch ups outside of work. There are clubs at work, for example i have been part of the TUI choir two years in a row and its a great way to meet new people

  • 9a. Would you recommend TUI UK & Ireland to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Its simply just a great company to work for. Its a work hard play hard kind of environment where your hard work is recognised and rewarded. I can only speak for the commerical team i have worked in but there just a sense of belonging in the team, like everyone of you matters.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland?
  • 100% DO IT! I chose TUI over university and it was the best thing i ever done. Important to remember that personality and having a character that will fit well in the team is extremely important here at TUI so just be yourself and you will fit right in with everyone!
