  • I am a mechanical fitter within the Cold Mill. I work as a team member on days regular. My roles and responsibilities are to carry out daily inspections, planned maintenance and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipment/machinery.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills. These are from basic communicating and team working skills to more hands on and technical skills with mechanical equipment/machinery. Also expanded on my mechanical knowledge by carrying out HNC mechanical engineering

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme as it is based around what I do on a daily basis so it’s a benefit for my learning, knowledge and skills. Enjoy working on my own and as part of team.

  • Very well organised programme overall, with lots of opportunities to develop skills and learning in different areas.

  • Receive a reasonable amount of support when needed, mentoring provided when going into job role to learn the role and gain experience. Also supported throughout job, along with other benefits for working.

  • Always good support. Good communication between tutors and students always, Training provider always there for help when needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Helps me carry out my role better as it covers many different areas and topics which are relevant to my role in mechanical engineering. Helps expand my knowledge of mechanical engineering overall and helps give me ideas and to be more creative.

  • Yes always work linked activities going on and available to all workers. Opportunity to build working relationships and team working.
