  • Monitoring the health and safety of the supply chain, Reviewing RAMS and Toolbox talks, Snagging the supply chain works, managing logistics, planning supply chain works ensuring correct close out

  • On site training rarely ever happens, all skills learnt are through experiences on site and being put in the deep end. Constantly reviewing what can be done better next time.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Before COVID 19 the programme at Dudley college was very well delivered but due to COVID and working from home has made me less enjoy the course due to low interaction. Bad timing I suppose but its been the same for everyone.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Every week the structure changes, some weeks are very well planned out but other aren't, seems like the college is under staffed during the pandemic. Before COVID the course was very well structured.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • College work is very rarely discussed with my employer, but that's more my decision as I keep work and college separate. The project I currently work on has been very busy for the past 2 years and never have anytime during the week to discuss.

  • Can't really comment as no qualifications have been undertook.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • All information learnt has been taken to my current job role and has seen me progress at a good pace. The course has defiantly helped understand the basics of construction.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Before COVID we played 5 a side football every Wednesday

  • Yes

  • 2 Years has gone very quickly, would definitely recommend to someone just starting in the industry.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to John Sisk & Sons?
  • Same as applying for any other construction company, do your research, ask people who have previously worked there.
