  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis I lead a team of 14 people to provide a service to both our customers and our communities. There are various different tasks that I complete on a daily basis from stocking shelves to cash management and also ensuring that all legal checks are in place making the store compliant and legal to trade.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've developed a lot of my leadership skills over the last two years of the course and they've allowed me to lead with purpose more and understand what my team require from me as their manager. I've also used the course to develop my self reflection skills further and take that time to understand where my areas of development are.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme as it has given me the insight into the wider business. • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe the programme is very structured and the programme tutors have taken away feedback and built on that feedback to make the structure better. The programme is very organised and everyone has what they need to enable them to succeed in the programme and be able to use it for what they want to achieve.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The employer struggles when delivering support to the colleague when going through the programme. Its hard to carry out the programme whilst working 40 hour weeks and being able to fit in the time to take a study day and make sure that work is up to date. I feel that my work has been hindered due to lack of employer support.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • There is regular support from the university in terms of regular feedback and one to one's with personal tutors. This allows me to gather feedback on the work that I'm doing and work towards a better grade. They also support in taking feedback to the wider business which is helpful.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It helps me to preform better in my role because it gives me the tools to adapt to anything that I come across in my role. It also allows me to do further research on my team that can help us to become a stronger and more effective team that can do things better.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Co-op to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The coop is a great business to work for and really does care about the colleagues and the customers that shop in our stores. Our colleagues are second to none and being able to do this course helps me to support them in leading with care and supporting the communities.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Co-op?
  • Be yourself is a big piece of advice i would give. The coop want everyone that works for them to bring their best selves to work as well as be themselves so don't hide away, show your personality and be proud of who you are because that's whats important.
