  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis my role involves analysing, reviewing and communicating financial information to my business teams. These business teams are made up of product areas and the information I provide enables them to make management decisions. On a monthly basis I am involved with reviewing our monthly accounts and making amendments where necessary. I then produce and distribute reporting and commentary to the teams.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Throughout my apprenticeship I have learnt that "on the job" training can take many forms and doesn't necessarily mean specifically time doing my course. I have also learnt how to rate my performance against knowledge, skills and behaviours expected of someone at my level. I have also learnt how to manage time better.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy the programme however I find it hard to fit it in around a very full day job that can be demanding. I expected I would be able to find more time to do the course during the day but work has been very demanding recently

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the course and content seems very well structure however I found the communication at the start fairly difficult to follow. There was the kaplan website where my course content is held but also the my kap app (that isn't an app) that is specifically related to my apprenticeship. Once this was clear I found it a lot easier.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have found that since beginning my apprenticeship work has been extra busy, I have also changed roles and this has lead to an increased workload and responsibilities. This has made it very difficult to find time during the day to study as work is seen as "more important" by my employer

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have a 6 weekly review with Kaplan that discusses my progress since the last meeting and provide an update to the KSB tracker and training log. I don't find I get too much out of these meetings but they are helpful to keep you on track if you need it

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Having only started my qualification late last year i have yet to see the benefit of my qualification to my role but I hope that as I work up the levels I will be able to apply some of the knowledge I have learnt in helping me perform better in my role

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of things to get involved with at Post Office. There is teams workout sessions as well as football, netball & yoga (in non covid times). There are also networking and education events such as Women in Finance, Women in Leadership, POEM network & weekly 10 minute question sessions with the CEO

    10/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend Post Office to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Good company to work for who takes care of their employees. Salaries are very competitive and there is lots of opportunity for home/flexible working if needed. It is nice to not be clock watched and to be able to manage your own workload like an adult. The business has a friendly feel that is not "too corporate"

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Post Office?
  • Interviews are generally friendly and more informal, allowing the candidate to get to know the line manager better and confirm that they are right for the job (as well as the job being right for them). The onboarding process is easy and involves a basic criminal record check with Experian
