  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As an L&D Specialist, I train new starters in how to use the systems, how to handle customers and how the business works. I also provide upskill and developmental training to existing employees.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot around why we train in certain ways and also a lot of really interesting models, such as KOLB and Honey and Mumford. Ive also learnt more about models I already knew about, such as the Kirkpatrick model.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Ive really loved it! Getting together with other companies has been really great, learning how they do things has been a real eye opener.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well structured. When I started I was given the dates of the monthly workshop so I could schedule them in my calendar and share them with my manager, this allowed me to schedule my workload.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Loads! My manager is great & if I struggle with time management he is always available to help me sort my calendar & arrange my workload.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Loads! I have regular contact with my skills coach & we go through my progress together. I am working towards my maths level 2 as well, my skills coach has helped me with this so much - arranging a specialist to help me and giving me extra resources.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Its given me a lot more context around why we do things in certain ways, and it has also given me a lot of ideas of new things to try, for example new ways of evaluating training.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, we have a choir, a walking group, many people play football, there is a photography group and a cooking with booking group.
