  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The first year is based within the Learning Development Centre where you will learn all of the different departments within Rolls-Royce and then the rest of the apprenticeship will consist of placement all around the business gaining real-life experience in the working enviroments.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I had a mechanical back ground so found the first year fairly easy but the placement is all new to me and it is excited getting involved with important meetings, and important project where you are constantly learning new development skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I LOVE what I do and I am very excited for the future of my career within Rolls-Royce.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • We have everything laid out for us, making sure that every aspect is covered, but if there were to be any questions, a small group of people is assigned an Apprentice Development Leader who will answer them, and ensure you're kept on track.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I suffer from a learning difficulty and Rolls-Royce paid for my diagnoses and they will support me with different techniques to ensure that I am not going to be disadvantaged in any way.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • During lockdown, it has been very difficult but now we are seeing the end of it, it is getting better as we are having the face-to-face meetings that I learn a lot more from rather than remotely.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Massively, as it gives me a technical understanding of the job that we are carrying out. Rather than just doing them and not understanding the fundamentals involved and the reasoning behind what I am doing.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • During lockdown there has been none, however before there was always social events that you're encouraged to go to, which helps with the professional relationships you will grow whilst working for Rolls-Royce.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Rolls-Royce to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It is an incredible place to work, and there are many opportunities to find something you will love and then progress professionally within the business and really make a name for yourself.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?
  • Always think outside the box, and always to think as a team, not just a single entity.
