  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I help people with travel insurance that is linked in with there bank accounts, I assist them with all there needs and if they need to upgrade for example medical conditions or if they need to travel for longer than covered etc. It is a customer facing role that involves lots of communication.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot more communication skills as my whole job is based on customer service and a customer facing role. I have further developed my team working skills as well as my IT skills as I have had to use some systems I haven’t used before which is interesting.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme a lot as I have never done a job like this before so it’s a nice change for me to be doing something different and out of my comfort zone. It is also nice to work from home too as I have my own set up.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is organised and structured as we have monthly meetings and can get in touch with our trainer when we need to through email if we have a query, I wish there was more opportunity’s for meetings however more than once a month, as I feel I would develop my knowledge better.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer, I have been given all the support possible and all the IT tools I will need since working from home, this makes the job so much easier. The working from home process has been made easy due to the support received.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We receive one meeting a month as a group and every so often we have 121 sessions in which we can go over our individual needs. We also can email if it’s urgent. It would be nice to receive more meetings with our trainer as I think this will benefit me further.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It gives me further knowledge of the role and insurance as a whole as I’m learning more about everything it involves. This will further help me within my job role and my knowledge to do with it will will help me on a daily basis with my job role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there is, due to covid there now a lot more online competitions you can do to win things which is fun and is interactive. There is also hashtags to use when you post on Yammer to do with work or an event so everyone from work can see each other’s posts.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a very friendly and welcoming place to work with a lot of benefits, you are looked after very well and all your needs are catered to, I started my apprenticeship from home which I was nervous about but the learning process was done step by step and the trainers were helpful.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Direct Line?
  • Apply for all the roles that interest you as it’s a great place to work and then you have the best chances to enable yourself a job with the company and experience all the benefits that it has to offer. Also make lots of friends as everyone is so welcoming.
