  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Although this is a big change from my previous role during study, I enjoy the change and the challenges set for me. Working from home was a worry that I would feel isolated, but NBS has made extra effort to make me feel welcome and included

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have a healthy balance of work life and study and NBS are extremely helpful and flexible when it comes to studying for my apprenticeship. The structure of the studying is enjoyable and not too intense, whilst also having a good level of difficulty and it's challenges.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I feel there could be more support during the writing of portfolio work. Although the support is there by email it is unclear on times I can call or contact them outside of scheduled meetings. Other than this the support during sessions is great.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Although all not may seem relevant at the moment, it gives me a deeper understanding of the theory behind the work that I produce which in turn helps me to understand why it is being asked of me and what its uses could be in the future.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Joining the business during covid, I may not be as aware about these activities as I could be. However, so far I have taken part in an apprentice bake-off, volunteering and have signed up to do a 5k along with other members of the society.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Newcastle Building Society to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Since joining the business I have virtually met many members of the society that I may not have met in real life at the office. I feel NBS have put in the extra effort and considered the worries of working from home during these times.

  • Do it. Don't be afraid to admit you lack skill in particular areas as there is a lot of support to help you reach your potential.
