  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Providing technical support to any internal employee in EMEA region (sometimes globally). I need to help help and provide the best solution to their query or issue. The responsibilities are very broad, include account management, azure management, troubleshooting software and hardware conflicts, enrolling new users, helping to connect new accounts and phones. Constantly involved in investigation/collaboration with other adjacent teams.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I definitely learned plenty new skills. The company provides you access to internal knowledge library to linkedin and other learning platforms. People are happy to share their knowledge and teach you new tricks. Working in Bloomberg I realised my organisational and time management skills bad were at bad level therefore I received some advises, and feedback on how to improve. Also, the manager is very supportive and helpful!

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Its a great experience for me overall. I am able to shadow different teams, learn new skills. They pay for my cert exams but also put plenty of pressure on you. I like that I have environment and tools which allow me to grow, it is sometimes hard to combine it with work. Team is lovely but hard to judge based on zoom calls. I like the company culture but still can feel the disadvantages of big hierarchy.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Neither BPP or Bloomberg had a very good learning program. Bpp, as a learning provider, had more schedules, learn Y before day X but for bloomberg it was more like "we have 1year to teach you A,B,C". I had a trainer, experienced employees, but no guides for newstarters. No table to covered topics to see what else is there to study.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My managers are very helpful, they understand the circumstances and often really try to help you (not all managers are like that, even in my company). Although it might not be very structured, I can always ask and get answers. Although, I got tasked with challenging projects, generally I have access to requires resources. And if I dont, then I learn how to get access to something.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • It's alright. Teachers are very knowledgeable. IF I ask for a meeting/catch up, they will book a call within a week, definitely like it. Coach explains you what to do and how to it. No one is "baby spooning" you but I would prefer to have catch ups more often.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • BPP teaches me very basic and superficial material. It's 1h or 1.5h lesson a week - it has a very small impact. Most of what I learned was self-study. BPP provides slides and video recording of the session but that's it. I dont want to critic too much BPP, because probably the material itself of lvl 3 apprenticeship is very superficial. The apprenticeship course teaches me how to hold a pan, while I am required to cook high-level dishes.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We definitely do some events but not during pandemic...My team normally did "teambuilding" in pub/bowling. Even now, company continues to create some events: - every now and then we have "BOB" events which is pure philanthropy. We are encouraged to spend our time to help local communities - There are constantly new courses to acknowledge and learning session to join

  • 9a. Would you recommend Bloomberg to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Of course it would very much depend on your preferences, but Bloomberg is a great place to work. They care about about improving their product. They care about customer satisfaction and train perform and act at a high level. It's quite a challenging environment but it allows you to learn plenty. And, the greatest benefit is the enthusiastic people from all over the world. I really like my team and feel satisfied after having interesting talks with colleagues from other departments.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bloomberg?
  • - Push yourself, because no one else is going to do it for you! I strongly believe that you can have a successful apprenticeship at Bloomberg but not because the company will teach you everything. Instead, you will have opportunities to shine - Do your best every day, like its your 1st day every day! Dont lower your standards once you get the position. Keep working at high standard, every day, every ticket! Wanna grow? Never lower the bar.
