  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am doing my apprenticeship with the Community Investment Team in Scotland. I help the team with admin duties, developing new project ideas to support employability, environmental policies and local charities in Scotland. I also manage our social media accounts and create videos and flyers for promotion.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since I joined the company, I have acquired many new skills ,both soft and hard and I have developed existing ones. For example, I have developed my skills in video editing, copywriting and communication. In addition, I have learnt how to work with others which helped me to build my confidence.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my apprenticeship as no day is the same. I have a range of duties to work with from admin tasks like taking minutes and filling, to more creative duties like creating videos and content for social media! I love also the fact that my apprenticeship is very rewarding as we work to benefit local communities.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Despite the current situation, I would say that my programme is very organised. I have meetings with my mentor almost every day and very often with my team. The company also tries to bring together all the apprentices with different online activities. I would say my college could try better

  • My employer supports me a lot with my apprenticeship with different ways.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My tutor is helping me a lot with my assignments but the college could do more as there is a lack on study materials.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I`m learning many things both in practice and in theory form my course at college.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Because of covid there are not many social activities but we can have sometimes an online meeting with other apprentices

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • So far, I have a great experience with the company. Balfour Beatty gives the opportunity to everyone and supports you with a mentor and extra trainning to be better at your work. Work-life balance is also good.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Balfour Beatty?
  • Do your research, have a professional CV and prepare for your interview.
