  • Manage the store of 24 colleague to help support the co-op achieve it's goals. Help coach and educate colleagues to give the best serve to the customers. Full accountability of health and safety procedures and financial accountability of the store. Help support with community engagement within the local community

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes helped support with spelling and grammar while completing essays and research papers. Able to reference pieces of work from researching online uses full in depth google searches/using audiobooks/books/research articles. Other skills include how to complete a professional discussion while referencing to evidence of work being carried out

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Really enjoyed it, got to know new colleagues across the business within the apprenticeship team and other store managers I find know. Good to learn from others and get feedback along the way. Also able to create new relationships outside the business with being able to ask for support and feedback

  • Structured enough to get time from the co-op to plan my one day a week work 8 hours to do research and completing essays

  • A lot, great support to get my hours to complete my training. My personal team was understanding to let me crack on with my work while they were looking after the store

  • Great support, my “tutor” gave me plenty of support/challenge and feedback. Always available to pick up a call

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Understand more about the theory that links up with the practical side of retail. Great to be able to get the time to read and write about retail, rather than just do

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Plenty of networking events that include clubs for career growth, etc aspire. No sports team, but that's a great idea. Especially once lock down has come.& gone

  • Yes

  • Been with the business for 16 years, been a great company to be for opportunity.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Co-op?
  • Research about the business, what makes it different to every other food retailer out there. As we are unique!
