  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My dat to day role consists of monitoring and ensuring all mainframe systems are running optimally and they are not constrained. I look at the capacity of the boxes and monitor to ensure there are no issues. My role also consists of communicating frequently with other mainframe teams to ensure all their jobs, which are running on the systems, are not causing issues.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many extra-curricular activities which i am able to get involved with when we are working from the office. • 9a. Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Barclays is a well ran and supportive company for all apprentices. I have already recommended Barclays to multiple friends and have a couple who are on an apprenticeship due to this. Barclays is a secure job which allows you to develop all skills while earning a good wage in a helpful environment.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • Be ready to work hard and give up some of your personal time to better yourself both personally and professionally. It is no walk in the park so make sure you are ready mentally for the workload but also be ready to meet some great, knowledgeable people who are always willing to help you.
