  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work as a financial supervisor/regulator at the Bank of England. I currently work in the team making sure that central clearing counterparties comply with regulations and implement prudent risk management. It involves having meetings with clearing counterparties, undertaking deep-dive reviews of their risk management and governance practices.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I've learned how to chair and lead meetings, assess risk management practices, also developed understanding of UK and European regulations etc. As part of this role, I'm also undertaking ACCA qualification.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The Bank has a great working culture ensuring flexibility and mental wellbeing of the colleagues. I enjoy my team and the kind of work I get to do.

  • As ACCA qualifications can be started anytime, I self-manage the qualification with help from qualification provider Kaplan

  • I receive 20% time off for study leave, and support from my managers. I receive no support from HR, even when asked specifically.

  • I receive sufficient support from learning couch, tutors and student services.

  • The qualification meets my expectations for improving my performance at the role.

  • The Bank does focus on allowing everyone to flourish in the organisation, so it's important to overpower or obstruct others' ability to participate in the conversation.
