  • To run shifts. Look after customers and ensure they get the correct order as well as hot & fresh food. Help my colleges who run shifts. Engage with crew to ensure they are providing an excellent service to customers. Talk with customers and with the crew, get to know them and help if needed

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot from when starting McDonald’s as well as my apprenticeship. I have learnt about customer expectations as well as needs. How to deal with customers in a professional way. I’ve learnt about different people and how everyone is different so your approach to people needs to vary to suit them and there needs.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed my apprenticeship a bit. I’ve enjoyed learning new things about my business and it’s needs as well as different customer profiles and how to deal with each one. I have also enjoyed the fact you can take your leaning and put it into practice on the shop floor and take it into your business,

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • When starting my programme is was very organised. I had my first initial meeting with my remote trainer. He gave me a folder with everything that will be completed over the course of my apprenticeship. He explained to me what I would learn and go through throughout the apprenticeship. It was very well explained and haven’t had any issues in what needs doing as knew it from the start.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • When starting my apprenticeship I was told I would get 4 hours a week off the floor to do my apprenticeship work - this was being paid for and stay clocked it. It massively helped me as I had people near me to help if I ever got stuck or into a bit a trouble. This helps you stay motivated to do your work as you’ve got people around to give a helping hand if you need it.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • When working with lifetime is been up and down. On the down side I’ve had a variety of different trainers which doesn’t help with the consistency. On the plus side they have all been helpful, On the end of the phone whenever I need them to help me understand what im doing with my work.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • This qualification has massively helped me in my job role. It’s made me understand customers better, from there needs to expectations. It’s also help me understand business needs and how they can be understood in more depth. It’s also help me with working with different people and how everyone works in different ways!

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are plenty of things to get involved in outside of the McDonald’s job. There is the fun football project. This is when your store creates a football team and you play matches against other stores. This helps create better relationships with your colleges. Another thing you can get involved in is RMHC. You can support or fundraise for McDonald’s chosen charity, RMHC.

  • 9a. Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • McDonald’s is a very good job for young people looking for there first job. They are very flexible with the hours you would like and very accommodating with young people who have other commitments such as college. McDonald’s is a very supporting community and is accepting of everyone! There are many opportunities at McDonald’s that will help you progress within life!


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
  • First off, just be yourself! There is nothing better than just being yourself, regardless of who you are! McDonald’s is a very accepting community and we have a lot of different personality’s working within the company! We understand if you are shy / nervous! This is totally okay! Try it out and give it a go! There will be challenges along the way but that will happen anywhere! Ask for help if needed and take it as it comes!
