  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role as an apprentice is to continuously learn new skills that will benefit me when officially working for Gatwick. At the end of the scheme I will be a fully qualified technician meaning that I could be working on an electrical task one day and a mechanical the next. It is very versatile which I am extremely happy about.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme couldn’t be better organised, my manager constantly checks up with us ensuring that we are happy and focusing. The teachers at the first year at college often get in contact with our manager as-well informing him on how we’re doing. We are always told weeks before from Gatwick if there’s a change in our route so they are very good at keeping us updated.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think that it will benefit me due to me having better knowledge when referring to basic hand skills and general engineering aspects. Our training provider makes sure we understand the task fully before letting us work and try’s to let us get on with it by ourselves so we obtain the knowledge better.
