  • Rotating across the business in various roles. Learning and being mentored in specific jobs that range from mechanics, electrics and engineering.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Being a mature apprentice I have gained a lot of experience by working on the shop floor in various roles. However, being placed on the other side of the business I am learning different aspects of how the business is run.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am not doing the same job every day, my day to day varies and that keeps the job interesting.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • With a change of personnel the training support has not exactly been stable, as apprentices, generally speaking we are the last to know about changes. I would say with the change of personnel it has not exactly been well organised. On a positive I expect this to pick up.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • If you seek out support you will receive the support, however, it is up to the individual to seek that support.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Warwick college have been vocal about the support they offer and have lived up that. Quick to reply to any contact from apprentices. Positive attitude and plenty of reviews and meetings to discuss the progress.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification will enable my progression within the company, the skills I am learning will provide an excellent platform for me to develop further in my career.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • With Covid these opportunities have been limited due to the restrictions. However, courses and meetings have took place through mediums such as Microsoft Teams or Skype.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Babcock to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Even though there has been negatives, it has been a great platform for developing skills and attributes that will enable a positive and productive future.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Babcock?
  • I would say embrace the whole experience of the application process, in it self is a learning curve. Try to enjoy yourself, as an apprentice you meet a lot of people, the experience you gain from this process helps confidence and contributes to you own personal growth.
