  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I rotate to different departments every 4-8 months so my day to day tasks will vary. I’m currently in a rotation within general ledger where I complete sundry sales accounts and daily accounting tasks

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have definitely learnt a lot of excel skills and also grown a lot as an employee, I feel I have been taught a lot of personal skills as well as work skills. Communication and problem solving skills have also been developed

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy working for Tata steel and I enjoy studying AAT, some rotations are quieter during some periods and busier during others but overall I feel privileged to have this opportunity

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well organized, as I mentioned previously I rotate to different departments so I am able to see different elements of the finance department and I feel my rotations are structured well, and in line with my learning

  • I feel my employed is very supportive, support can sometimes vary by department but it’s always available soon request

  • My training provider provides an extensive amount of material to help progress towards completing my qualifications

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I am studying a finance qualification and working within a finance environment therefore I feel that it helps a lot

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There have been a number of extra activities to get involved in e.g. I have participated in the great finance wales challenge and a finance competition through AAT studies

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I think Tata steel is a reputable company with a lot of room for growth and development, I feel they are a great trainer provider and the career opportunities are there for those who work hard


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Tata Steel?
  • Tata steel is an amazing company but the interview process can be intense, do your research and make sure this is the company and the right apprenticeship for you, make sure your application and cv are strong and that you genuinely want to peruse a career here and you’ll be fine
