  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is based arround the training and development of kitchen managers to assist in delivering and improving results for the compmay. this can be financial, based on food safety or focused on customer satisfaction/food quality. I visit sites all over the UK and report directly to the food operations manager.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I started the job from being a kitchen manager from a rival company (M&B) nearly 5 years ago. so not only was it a new position to me it was all new people and procedures also. Ther has been lots to learn around how to build relationships and how to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes from situationa and how to assist our teams in site.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Its been difficult balancing time between work, the programme and family time. Having siad that it has been very beneficial to me i have learned a lot about myself as well as learning about operational/departmental management. i would reccomend anyone to take part if they are considering it providing they can manage thier time well.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • VERY! The whole programme was very well structured. even though there was a global pandemic mid way through i feel the learning and support has been fantastic! [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] I found to deliver especially interesting and informative sessions along with the male tutor we had (ex millitary I believe - I am so sorry, I cant rememner his name) [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was AMAZING throughout! just the right level of support and encouragement when needed, total legend!

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I very much appreciate being put forward for the programme. I did recieve offers of support if required from a range of differnt collegues at greene king. I would however suggest it may be beneficial to have some of the assignement work alloceted in to a working week (even just a couple of hours would help) to allow for research and writing of the assignements which can be time consuming when trying to balance on top of an already very busy schedule.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • As much as required! [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was clear she was available to support as and when required. we had regular catch ups planned in via video call however if i needed anything in between I knew I could shout. We did have a group whatsapp group which alot of minor queries could be answered here also.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • i think it has helped in a work capacity in terms of building my knowledge and competancies but also has helped build charictoristics in me that can be used in the workplace to benefit me, my team and the company in the future. Again, i would highly reccomend the course.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There have been mpre during the pandemic, vitual quizzes and fundraisers for macmillan as well as virtual walking groups and baking competitions. I believ this kind of thing will continue when life becomes more 'normal' again also. There have been award events and social gatherings however as I am field based they are understandibly not too frequent.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • Go for it! Its as simple as thet really. The way that the(CEO) and the rest of the team have handled the pandemic and the way information and decisions have been communicated has been consistant and honest. As a member of the team I could ask for no more.
