  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Day-to-day I do one of the following. Shadowing account managers, client directors, sale specialists- sit in meetings, understand the accounts they are working on. Understand the relationships they are maintaining with current customers, the customers pain areas or areas of development. Rotations. Rotate around different sectors of the company, understanding how different areas work together to fit into the process as of whole that is Computacenter. Apprenticeship work. Project work to complete understanding in different areas in accordance with Firebrand training.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt lots of new skills. The skills I have learnt have revolved mainly around sales. These skills including Networking; learning how to communicate with customers as well as vendors and colleagues. I have also developed presentation skills. Learning how to present without a script or presentation, as well as learning how to present virtually.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme a lot. It is a variation of different tasks and learning. I enjoy that each week we are in a new rotation or learning something different. It is nice that we get to meet and speak to lots of different people from different areas in the company. I also enjoy it as their are lots of other graduates, so people to share the experiences with.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well organised and structured. It is organised so we get good visibility into different sectors of the company, as well as different teams. It is structured so we are able to rotated into different sectors at least every 2 weeks. This means we are constantly doing different things so it doesn't become tedious or boring.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I recieve lots of support from my employer. I have been given a buddy, a coach and a mentor, all employees of my company. This means I have several levels of support before even my line manager. They are all different stages of their career, and in different sales sectors. This means I am given a broad range of support from different view points, and level of authority.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive enough support from my training provider. We have monthly catch ups to make sure I am on track with my training and working towards the right goals that will help me complete my training. I also know that I can email or call my training provider if and when I need help or support in the work Im doing.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification has helped to give me a better understanding of sales and sales techniques. This has given me a foundation knowledge to work and build on in my role. It has also helped when understanding things that I will need to use everyday, such as competitors. It has taught me the importance of competitors when looking into bids and frameworks.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, there are lots of extra curricular activities to get involved in. Despite the fact we have been working from home their are lots of groups or teams to get involved in, such as fresh minds, which is for new starters. We are also encouraged to volunteer and given incentives to get involved with different activities.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Computacenter to a friend because it is very inclusive and supportive. It brings in lots of elements such as the importance of driving your own career and career progression. They have been very good in helping us to experience and understand all areas of the company so we can learn the importance of everyone and everyones different roles, and how it effects the company as a whole.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Computacenter?
  • I would give the advice of understand a bit about Computacenter, the values and objectives of the company as a whole. I would also say make sure you have a drive and passion for whatever role you are applying for as it will help you achieve better when you're in the role. I'd also say be yourself, because people will see through it if you're not being yourself.
