  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role at the moment as I am now a full time employee in the collections and recoveries department is to be on the phones taking customers queries, handling missed payments on account and setting arrangements around them to bring them up to date. There is also the outbound side when we aren't receiving calls we will call out to people in arrears to discuss the missed payments and sort out clearing them up. Outside of this I will work on completing the remaining coursework I have for my apprenticeship and writing up notes for discussions to be had with my apprenticeship coach.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot of new skills and highly developed the existing skills that I already had before coming to this company. There is a lot of support and coaching within the company so you progress as an individual quite quickly and you very easily learn new skills within a work place. The support as well helps you to develop anything you already know and support you to get to the places you want to go also.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The actual work with VWFS was very enjoyable and extremely beneficial in helping me gain necessary life skills to deal with potential stressful issues and a general workplace environment. The amount of training and the skills you get from VWFS is a huge testimony to how well they value their employees and want them to progress even further. The part I didn't enjoy within the programme was unfortunately the apprenticeship training coach, but this wasn't a huge issue as what I didn't gain from them I did gain from VW and my peers in the apprenticeship scheme.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Within the company the programme is very structured and organized and the hand overs to each department was handled well ensuring we had a meeting before going there for an overview of what we will be changing to making the transition easier. I think it only fell behind when the department wouldn't be provided all the information around what we are actually doing as apprentices so there was a lot of questions around what they can do to help what work am I doing what they could provide as an extra support method for me. the other thing would again fall down to the apprenticeship training company FWD who weren't organized with work and with meetings.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received lots of support from my employer from both team leaders, management, and peers. each department I went to ensured that I had everything that I needed to get the best possible outcome from my apprenticeship and offered constant support so that anything I struggled on I was able to get the help needed to pass that struggle, even putting me in touch with other areas in the company to support on certain coursework I had which they didn't have too much knowledge around.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • This is unfortunately where the apprenticeship fell the training provider was very supportive during my time and wasn't very clear around the feedback towards the coursework I provided her. I was left in the dark on what mark I was actually working at with the work I provided her so I wasn't sure if I was doing enough to pass whether I was going over that, and the meetings we had didn't seem to provide the information needed to require an hour long meeting together as the information provided could have easily been sent over in a quick email.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel the qualification is a good compliment to the role in VWFS as it teaches you the regulations and legislations around the company you work for getting a better understanding of why the company has some of its rules and how you fit within the company as well. it also helps to improve your knowledge around the products that you deal with on a day to day basis with customers

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is always something available to get involved with whether that is during work on lunch breaks, or getting the time to go away or after work such as sports teams. there is always an incentive going on within the company to help keep moral high and make sure the work environment doesn't become boring affecting peoples productivity.
