  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Typically on a day to day basis, i review and receive different models on tekla, editing and modelling drawings before they are issued. Assembling and creating different parts and checked before submitted.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes i have gained a few new skills such as the functionality of Tekla and how everything works, developed my skills in CAD, learning new shortcuts and ways to view complex drawings in simple views to analyse specific areas.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme set out for me is brilliant and i really do enjoy it. As its not always a repeat on the same things we do, most days something new such as a job/project will come up meaning different aims and tasks are in play.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very organised and structured... Our one to one mentors keeps track of us every so often, informing us of any changes or updates.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I believe any amount of support i ask i will receive, as there are many ways to look and ask for support, eg, HR, mentor, head of my engineering department, peers, online resources etc.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Online resources are available, meet ups are planned to discuss progression and areas for support if needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As i will be moving towards the project management department i my company, this will help me massively as i will be studying this in university. So, by learning the theory side and practical side of things, will give me a better overall feel and play in my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes we have a football teams that all come together and play on certain days, volunteer to take parts in introductions talks to other schools/colleges about our company and what it is we do. Along with a football charity every Friday were £1 is collected form who ever wants to participate and at the end one winner is drawn out to collect the full prise money.

  • Yes

  • Clear structure, Staff are fantastic and well mannered, Progression through different qualification, Tuition fees paid for, Excellent pay, Good job security


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to William Hare?
  • This is one of the top apprenticeship programmes there is relating to engineering that you can apply for, there will be some challenging times but through the support given, there shouldn't be any issues, as long as your here to better yourself and to provide what is expected from you.
