  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis, I complete general administrative duties including post distribution, setting up meetings, making and receiving phone calls, sending and receiving emails, hard and electronic filing, invoicing etc. As well as these duties, I assist the fee earners and graduates with their valuations by uploading photos from their inspections, setting up report templates, completing due diligence, setting up jobs on the system etc.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • This apprenticeship is my first proper full time job having completed my A levels therefore everything was completely new to me. I have learnt a vast amount of new skills which are invaluable! I've had lots of assistance and training which has been crucial for my development. Savills are incredibly welcoming and have helped me to develop new skills and continue to make opportunities available to me to develop more and more.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I currently go to college once a fortnight but once my workload increases towards the end of the course and my EPA (end point assessment), I am able to take a my college day and a day off on the alternate week to study and prepare. In the office, it's just on the job training! No two days are the same which I love.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Support is readily available whenever I need it. My employer recommends webinars and training available within Savills to help my development and understanding. Help from all of the other admin staff within the team is always just a phone call away and they're all very happy to help wherever they can.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Covid has meant a lot of working has been online from the college over MS Teams. Despite this, support has always been available. We mostly learn in the morning and then have time in the afternoon to consolidate our work through various worksheets and tasks set by our two teachers.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Lots of the training from the college helps me to understand why we have certain protocols in place in the workplace and why we undertake the tasks we do as administrators. For example, why minutes taking, and GDPR and health and safety are so important which you wouldn't know from just being in the workplace.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes! Savills have a huge array of extra-curricular activities. From charity groups, to sport. There's also team days and events for employees so they can expand their network and meet others within the company. We are currently having a book exchange where you send your book in to the graduate team and they set you up with someone from another office that you hopefully don't know and then discuss the books over MS Teams.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because there's huge opportunities, a chance to make friends for life, fun team building days, a wealth of training provided by Savills and you're able to build yourself a career within an incredibly well sought after company. There's also so many different jobs/divisions within the company and skills you gain in one division, you may be able to transfer to another if you feel you need a change and an opportunity arises for you to. There is never a dull day in the office!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills?
  • In the graduate world of Savills, it's generally quite competitive to get a job having come out of uni. If you know uni isn't for you the apprenticeship route is a no brainer! Make your CV stand out, research the company to make sure you have a good understanding before going in to the interview room and most importantly, be yourself!
