My role as a second year apprentice is to further extend my knowledge, understanding and skill set on what it requires to be a fully skilled Fabricator/Welder.
Everyday i feel i further understand my role within the company more, this naturally starts to build confidence in myself and my ability's. This is achieved by understanding the different working processes required to complete day to day tasks within the workplace.
If i'm being honest at the start of my apprenticeship I was not too confident within my self and also my own ability's. However as i have become more familiar with the job i feel more comfortable at work, this leading me to want to learn.
From an education standpoint the steps required to complete the units seem to be clear to understand. However because of covid the lack of face to face learning has been challenging. Also how first year apprentices are introduced to the job ( by shadowing an experienced worker) was shortend due to close proximity reasons i dont feel that a learnt as fast as previous apprentices before me.
Whenever i have a query about the work management always seem happy to help and show me what to do and are supportive when a mistake is made informing me on the correct way top complete the task
Due to Covid face to face learning hasn't been in place however i feel they have tried to support us in the best way possible whether that be through zoom or e mail informing us on any problems we have regarding any work.
It helps in terms of understanding why we do something when we do something, and the processes involved in the tasks we complete.
Lock down restrictions pending on a Tuesday night there is 8 a side football which is a good way to spend some time with colleges outside of a work environment.
Yes
Because in my experience they provide good training and working environments in order to set you up for a successful and stable career in a in-demand sector of work.
we arent prepared for the work life properly from school for some this may seem scary, but when you start you realise at some stage that every one that you work with has either gone through the same or is going through the same. there is a lot of support given from others to combat this
