  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Kitchen manager, i am in charge of a small team of 6, i train them with menu update. I control my GP,stock taking and ordering. i also cook on main service and ensure the quality of food is to company standards. i also am in charge of all health and safety with in the kitchen and ensure my team are fully trained with company guidelines. i get involved with the social media of the pub

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I got my NVQs in 1995 so for me this is a refresh, however i have now learnt about world cuisine and how over the years food,cooking and health and safety has change

  • I have a passion for cooking, i understand how the science of cooking works but i really enjoy finding out the why!

  • The whole program is well organised, due to the pandemic everything changed and the structure is good and organised

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My line manager asks me every month how i am getting on and likes to get information on the modules i am working on at the time. My mentor is very good with me as sometimes i really struggle and he takes time out to explain to me in more detail so that i am completely comfortable with it

  • My mentor is very good with me as sometimes i really struggle and he takes time out to explain to me in more detail so that i am completely comfortable with it. I can and have contacted my mentor with questions outside of our sessions and he is always happy to help

  • I am constantly learning and apply this to my day to day job and some of which i use at home

  • if been cooking for 25 years and Mitchells and Butlers are the best company i have ever worked for. The training programs are the best i have ever come across

  • Keep a open mind and get ready for a great experience
