  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role on a day to day basis can vary a lot. There are more routine admin based tasks, but there are also the new challenges that have been ever present over the past year. I mostly handle the department finances, and raise POs and process invoices. I'm also responsible for monitoring budgets within the EMEA region which has been extremely interesting.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a tremendous amount during my time so far. I have not only just learnt a lot of financial related skills, and expanded my understanding of the world of finance, but I've also felt a significant improvement in my own personal development. I have been able to grow a lot during my experience so far, and I have learnt many invaluable life lessons which will only help me on my future endeavors.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the company so far. Of course, I can't ignore the impact of the pandemic on my experience at the company. This is something that was completely out of the company's hands, but I can't deny that this has impacted my experience. Moving from a physical to virtual work environment has had it's challenges but also has taught me many useful skills.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme has been very well structured. Every day I have a strong idea as to what I want to achieve, and what I need to do. My accounting level 3 course has been very educational and has been well organised in a way that helps me achieve a good work life balance. The company has adapted extremely well to the impact of the pandemic, and has made my experience as seamless as possible.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Despite working in a virtual environment for the majority of my time at the company so far, I have received plenty of support, and there is a strong sense of urgency when it comes to the importance of mental health, and how achieving a work life balance can help. I am always getting in touch with colleagues and having catch-ups regularly which always helps keep you connected despite not being in the same office space.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I feel well supported by my training provider and my accounting coach is super friendly and helpful and is always open to any questions. Once every fortnight I will have a study day where we will cover the various topics of the course. These have been very useful learning experiences, and despite being taught in a virtual environment I feel I have been well supported.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • There are certain areas of my role at the company where knowledge from my qualification will crossover more evidently, and there are also areas of my role where I can't necessarily apply aspects of my qualification. On the most part, my qualification has improved my performance, but as I am in a marketing environment, I'm constantly facing new and exciting challenges which has been a massive highlight of my experience so far.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • As I write this, we are living in a rather crazy world where extra-curricular activities have almost become a thing of the past. However, the company is known for it's wide range of social opportunities and networking events - some of which I got a small taste of before the lockdown began. I do feel there have been plenty of virtual opportunities which have all been great experiences nonetheless.

  • 9a. Would you recommend WarnerMedia to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • My journey at WarnerMedia so far has been one of the most rewarding and exciting times of my life. I have met some of the most incredible professionals, who have all been so kind and helpful along the way. It's not only helped my skills in finance and marketing, but it's also helped me grow as a human being, and I'm so grateful that opportunities like this exist.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WarnerMedia?
  • I would say that one of the most important bits of advice I could give is to show your true passion. Your love and passion for something is one of the most contagious things, and people will notice that.
