  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role at Warner Media is based in the London TV Creative Services Team that works with International TV Distribution to create sales and marketing content. Every day my role can be different and I really look forward to starting new projects and tasks with the team. I help with everything the team works on, from asset and project management to helping to develop new systems and also get to give input into creative tasks.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Over the last year working at Warner Media, I have developed and gained skills every day. My planning and organisational skills are the ones that I feel have grown the most but I have also gained collaborative team skills that go beyond what you learn at school because I have been able to apply them to real working situations throughout my apprenticeship. As well as the skills that help my job role directly, my manager and team have also supported me in building new skills in the creative areas, including Adobe Photoshop and Premiere, giving me training in these areas to help me develop my understanding and knowledge. The best thing about the apprenticeship is that they are constantly helping you to grow and develop as you simultaneously apply these new skills to a working environment.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I absolutely love my programme, both with Warner Media and LDN Apprenticeships. The level of support they both provide has been such a great way to start a career in the industry and has enabled me to gain a qualification using the real experience I am gaining whilst working in my role. The programme goes beyond what I expected it to and has been such a positive learning experience for me. I love my team and company and they have made the experience so fun and enjoyable, even whilst completing it through the pandemic.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The apprenticeship as a whole is extremely well structured. From the application and interview days to the apprenticeship meetings and daily work. Everything is structured so that you can really get the most out of your role and the time you spend at the company. Although you learn Warner Media specific skills and systems, you also learn and build general skills that really support you in any role that you will do and it's great knowing you can use these skills in the future. Warner Media work really closely with LDN Apprenticeships so that you feel supported whilst you complete your apprenticeship. Regular meetings are scheduled, and the communication between you, your manager/team and your Skills Coach is always open.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Warner Media, my manager and my team have been so supportive throughout my entire apprenticeship. What has really stood out to me throughout the last 11 months is that they have always supported me in learning new skills and helping me to understand new tasks, but have also never treated me like anything other than a colleague and team member. The balance they have given me between these two things has really supported me throughout my apprenticeship and it has made the experience so enjoyable. Warner Media and the HR team also do a great job of providing new experiences and insights into the company through internal department talks and fun Apprentice/Intern experiences (e.g. Games Nights and Coffee Talks). These have really helped me meet other apprentices and interns from all over the company!

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support from LDN Apprenticeships has been second to none throughout my entire apprenticeship so far. Considering that the majority of my apprenticeship has been spent working through a global pandemic, LDN has made sure that we still experience as much as we can whilst working towards our qualifications. We have regular meetings with our Skills Coach who are also easily contactable, via our messaging channel, daily. They work so well with Warner Media to really provide the best, most positive experience possible, which has been difficult to do considering the circumstances.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • What drew me towards an apprenticeship, to begin with, was that you can simultaneously learn and develop your education whilst gaining experience from a professional job role. With many of the aspects of my qualification, I have had to directly involve projects that I work on in my day-to-day role. Not only am I applying the skills I learn from my qualification, to my role, but am also using the different things I learn in my role to help complete my qualification. This connection is the real benefit of my apprenticeship and why I enjoy it so much.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and therefore the work-from-home order, extracurricular activities haven't been able to go ahead. Before the first lockdown, in my third week at the company, I did get the opportunity to attend a masterclass held by the head of the film production department and since working from home, the HR team at Warner Media have tried to continue to provide these opportunities via online conferences wherever possible. There have also been numerous game night events and apprentice/intern mixers to try and provide similar social activities whilst we work from home.

  • 9a. Would you recommend WarnerMedia to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I have had the BEST experience at Warner Media. From the qualification to my job role, the support I have received to the skills I have gained, everything has been exemplary and it has honestly the most positive experience I have ever had. I have learnt so much from my role and the company and I have gained so many new skills and developed existing ones. The company provide apprenticeships in every single area of the company and so there really is an opportunity for everyone.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WarnerMedia?
  • Be enthusiastic and positive. Although any relevant experience you have is great, the company are offering you a chance to learn and gain a qualification whilst you work and so you have got to show that you are willing and want to do it. Completing an apprenticeship isn't like a normal job, it's not 100% about why you are a perfect fit for the role. It's about showing that you want to learn and how you will use the skills you gain, whilst you complete your qualification, so that you are successful in your role.
