  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My week is split into 2 days at university and 3 days at work. The university days are similar to any other university students timetable. Work days are spent coding on smaller elements of my teams larger systems and partaking in a wide variety of meetings.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I feel I have developed so many skills. I have been given the opportunity to interact with such a wide variety of people across the firm, which has really helped to develop my transferrable skills, whilst also being very well supported with my work which has helped with my technical skills. My understanding of banking and finance has also grown massively.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed the program so far! Despite the obvious limitations of the covid 19 pandemic the firm have been amazingly supportive. Everyone has been incredibly helpful and approachable, which has really helped with feeling integrated into the team. I also feel that I am given responsibility to be a part of some very interesting projects.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There is a very clear division between work days and uni days which gives the overall program a very structured feel

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support from Goldman Sachs as a whole, and my individual team has been brilliant. Despite not being in office, people will reach out to set catch ups, and everyone is still very easily contactable should any questions arise. We are also assigned a few mentors at the start of the course, who are also there to help out with any issues or questions.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • All of the concepts being taught at uni are definitely applied at work (and often my projects at work can involve some more advanced concepts that I have not yet covered at uni)

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
