  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day-to-day role involves a variety of things, but ultimately they are all based on negotiating with insurers to provide Insurance terms for Willis Towers Watson Clients. Client focus is key, so providing updates to clients is also a job which is done very frequently.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've learnt many skills since joining Willis Towers Watson (WTW) and have gained specific knowledge in the Insurance market. Along with learning on the job, throughout the course of the apprenticeship CII exams/ coursework are completed so qualifications are gained. The colleagues which I have interacted with so far within Willis have been very helpful and are very keen to help wherever they can. Communication skills have been learnt greatly.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Even though I started the apprenticeship programme in lockdown and I haven't been able to get into the office much, I have thoroughly enjoyed the apprenticeship programme at Willis Towers Watson. Colleagues have been very kind and helpful and want to help out as best they can. There is a nice balance of work and social chats which makes me feel at home whilst working. The scheme exceeds my expectations.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The Apprenticeship scheme is very well organised/ structured from both the Willis Towers Watson side and the company who run our training sessions for the CII qualifications. A pathway is set out from the onset and goals/ targets are introduced. There is lots of support available where required to assist with the programme and to simply grow yourself within the company. Study time is given which helps greatly.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Lots of support is given from the employer. My colleagues in my team are happy to help out, and my manager is on hand to also provide help whenever needed. Support is highlighted frequently within emails and meetings so if needed it can be accessed. There's a positive vibe around the apprenticeship in the company so all colleagues are on hand to offer support.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Lots of support is offered and given. Additional resources, calls and training are provided to us when we need additional help. The provider makes time for us and is always keeping us up to date. Not much more can be asked of them.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualifications provide very useful knowledge which can be applied to daily activities here at Willis Towers Watson. It generates lots of knowledge which helps work with colleagues and to further develop yourself.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Since joining Willis Towers Watson, lockdown has limited the amount of social activities available, but even still I've managed to go down to a local pub and have a beer and some food with colleagues. Social calls are held online every week to just have a laugh.
