  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role at Booking.com involved chatting with customers about new orders, amendments and cancellations as well as providing advice and relevant information to their questions and queries. This was done over platforms such as live chat, email and phone. Other duties included speaking with suppliers about products and services and dealing with issues and complaints in the best manner possible by providing customers with clear description of terms and conditions and about complaint processes.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • yes, I believe during my time at Booking.com and ParagonSkills have provided with me a wide range of new skills and made me improve existing ones. This was done through a variety of training and activities that was put in place by our trainers such as workshops, coaching, role playing, feedback sessions, etc. I think i developed the most my communication skills and learnt more about company processes and how to analyse them correctly.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed the programme very much, it has given me the opportunity to not only develop new skills and better existing ones, but also the chance to work closely to other members of staff from other departments of the business. The programme has also taught me a lot of new things i wasn't very much aware of such as safe-guarding and better business processes which I wasn't aware of in the past,

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme has been very well structured from the very beginning with Paragons staff coming into our company and telling us exactly how it was gonna go as well as giving examples on activities we would be getting throughout the course and how exactly we would be going about doing them. The tutor assigned to my group has also been very kind, helpful, attentive and organised, calling us all the way along the course duration.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has been absolutely brilliant along my employment journey with them, Booking.com has provided us with very high level quality training as well as providing high level of support whilst moving into the actual role as well. The management team is very professional and brilliant and the company's level of inclusion and care for its employees it's one of the best i have had during my career so far in life.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • As previously mentioned, our training provider is always there to offer support indeed and have been very attentive and helpful from the start and when needed. Most of the work we do is pretty self-explanatory but we still get calls from our tutor every month to ensure the work is understood correctly and to check if we may need any extra help with getting the activity done so they're very much supportive in general.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think this qualification has helped me a lot so far, this is because it's made me realise a lot of my potential and skills but it's also made me humble to experience and learn different skills or different ways I could be looking at things in general. Activities such as the Personal Development Plan is great for awareness on your weak and strong points and what to be doing to improve those.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, during my time a booking.com I have been given the opportunity to engage on a lot of new projects and activities. One of them which I can remember was B.Cares, this was a charity programme within the company which allowed you to use some working hours to do some community work instead or B.Proud which supports a lot of the LGBT community within the business, we were involved in events such as pride and worked hard to raise awareness on inclusion and diversity.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Booking.com to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would 100% recommend ParagonSkills to a friend, I would do this because they have been very transparent and informative about their programme and have made a real effort to be present along the course duration checking up if we needed any extra support along the way. The workshops were fun to attend to and informative at the same time and the activities are very engaging and interesting, always teaching you something new when doing them.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Booking.com?
  • My best advice would be to be confident in yourself and the knowledge you already have but also be open minded about learning new skills and adapting your ways of doing things other than what you are already used to. When applying make sure that you show you are keen to learn and what new skills you would like to develop and why you think those would be beneficial to you along your career path.
