1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role consists of working customers in a corporate setting, using agile and scrum methodologies to complete the work to the best standard possible. I have meetings everyday and learn off other apprentices, collaborating and using our skills.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt new programming languages such as JavaScript, ReactJS and have learnt to work in an agile environment. I became better at using HTML and CSS. I was also introduced to a new low-code platform called OutSystems which is a great tool to build applications quickly. I also learnt Java at university and hope to apply it to my work soon.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme a lot, it has allowed to meet a lot of new people from a range of different backgrounds and skill sets, which helps me learn everyday and become better at my job.

4. How well organised/structured is your programme?

The university side of the programme is well structured and has different modules that help us in different areas. At work, we have a good structure and team that help each other.

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

My workplace allows us to work towards our desired qualification ad accreditations that will help direct our career in the way we would like. We also receive support when struggling with university work and are provided with extra time to complete the university work during work hours if needed.

6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Yes there is always time for us to attend sessions and events that help us work towards these accreditations, we also have subscriptions to certain learning websites to help us with this. Peer leaning is also encouraged in our workplace.

7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Some of the topics learnt at university has not actually been used in the workplace yet but other topics have been useful such as corporate writing and database creation.

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Due to the pandemic, there is less to do at work, however, before the pandemic period, there was always a gym to use, a jogging club on the weekend and a lot of diversity and inclusion events to take part in. There is professional networking events more often than all, either in person or held on zoom, they try to provide junior talent like myself with opportunities to speak and gain experience from experienced/outsourced speakers.

9a. Would you recommend Fujitsu to a friend?

Yes

9b. Why?

Yes as there is a large amount of learning they provide and it is one of the market leaders which will help boost your career significantly . There is also always flexibility when wanting to move around the company into your desired area.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fujitsu?

Always be yourself and ask for help from others as no question is a silly question. Try enjoy what you are doing and if not, there is always chance for you to move into a role which you will hopefully enjoy.
