  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Trainee Store Manager running day to day processes of the store leading a team in many roles working through deliveries, delivered sales, and sales in general. Setting up the store for trade and making sure it is in the right place at close. Dealing with recruitment making sure the roles that are needed are fulfilled. Working through reports and analysing them to make decisions that are required including sales reports and performance reports of colleagues.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many skills including some methods of coaching my staff to progress and develop them, I have also taking alot of skills in looking at the reviewing of performance of my team. Another I have taken is the use of working out the direction of which the strategy of my company is going and trying to create. Finally looking at how the brand is seen by external people is a skill I've learnt.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I find the programme im on very enjoyable, I believe the modules in general are incredibly interesting and set up in a way that keeps me interested ans excited to continue on further with the cause. I belive the way it is monitored works in a good way as it allows me to give out the information that I have learnt easily but also allows the trainer to give further insight on the parts of the course I'm struggling on

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The course that I am on is very organised set out in a number of modules that are very easy to follow through and gain as much as possible from it. It is structured in a way that allows you to learn everything that you need to take from each module and gives you the chance to check your knowledge towards the end of the module to allow you to find out how confident with the content

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is very good with giving the support that I need on my course giving me the expertise and time that I need to progress and improve in my role. They also give me the support in the sense that they allow me the chance to focus on the course and the modules that I do realising that sometimes my learning will need to take place in times that are not convenient for the company buy still understand the importance

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a brilliant amount of support from my training provider towards my course. Regularly checking in on me to make sure I am happy and am where I need to be with my learning. They are also really good when doing my 1 to 1 listening to any issues that I have and then taking what I know already and developing on that to further my knowledge on all the topics that we go over

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I belive that what I am learning in my retail management course is going a long way to performing better in my role at Iceland. I am taking a lot of what I am learning and putting it into practise whilst fulfilling my role. I am able to take the theory's and methods that are in the modules and use them in different aspects of the role that benefits both me and also benefits everyone around me

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a really good and friendly place to work where the higher management really want everyone to progress to the highest possible role that they can get to. They value everyone who works for them and treat each member of staff as a part of a family


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Iceland?
  • To stick to the job and try to progress as its a beneficial company for all. Its a enjoyable and rewarding role that you would want to be a part of
