  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • 8/10

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Learning new skills, and I suppose also developing on existing skills. I’m learning new engineering techniques, how you set and run new machinery.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • As a 40 year old, I do find it’s not quite for me. Although I know it’s something I need to do to progress my career. It’s just hard getting back into a learning mentality, (and sometimes being treated like a kid)

    4/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Seems well organised, but saying that, with the year we’ve had (COVID). It’s been a challenge.

    5/10

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employers have been great. Allowing me the time to get work done. It’s a course which should hopefully benefit both of us in the long run.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Can’t fault the support we are given.

    10/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe it will help to some degree, but then again in all honesty, I could work with a colleague at work and probably be able to run the machine within a few days. Doing the course gives me a better understanding, but again in Rolls-Royce, if you are a machinist, you can’t alter or change programmes if there is a issue.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • In my workplace, we do a few social activities on team days. We also finish a hour early on a certain day of the week, where we play football or do a hours gentle exercise.

    10/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend Rolls-Royce to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Fantastic company to work for. Well looked after with excellent benefits.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?
  • DO IT. As long as your self motivated and prepared to work, you should have a long and rewarding career. ( pre COVID anyway)
