  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work as JBW’s point or contact for customers with any enquiries or complaints, along with 7 other members on my team. We respond to emails on a daily basis for hundreds of different cases, we regularly sort through the post and it is taken in turns to do so. We provide a customer service for JBW and retrieve all documents and information we need to help solve our cases.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Due to COVID-19 I haven’t developed skills as much as I could have during my time working for JBW where I have been working from home and not in the office environment. However I feel I have improved on my communication skills both in speaking and writing I have become more professional within my writing as I am always building on formally compiling responses and reports on a regular basis.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My time completing my apprenticeship so far I have throughly enjoyed. I enjoy carrying out the work set and am happy to help wherever I can whenever. I feel this can open up more doors for my future whether that being I decide to stay on with JBW or take my skills to a different company. However at this point in time I do plan to stick with JBW and see my progression build overtime as well as my knowledge and experience within the Business Admin sector.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • When in the office i work close with my employer as we are all apart of the same team, which makes any needed support easier as I can reach out and ask for any help at any point during the day. My employer will check up on me and ensure I’m comfortable with what I am doing as well as offer any help just like other members of my team do also.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I am given more than enough help from my tutor who I have visits with monthly where we track my progress and work to complete units as many units as we can with all the knowledge I’ve already learned. I am also provided with worksheets, booklets websites etc. For me to expand my learning sources and make my knowledge concrete.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It allows you to understand your role and your company in more depth which makes you feel more confident whilst carrying out work. It enables you to learn more about your role without realising the depth you are actually learning about. It also boosts your own encouragement when faced with tasks that you have already had discussions on because you know exactly what to do and it is completed confidently and less time wasted.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not to my knowledge there are any extra curricular activities that go on for JBW employees, however we do have a weekly newsletter which is published to us every week via email.

  • 9a. Would you recommend JBW to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The employees are so friendly and kind which makes working there more enjoyable and less stressful. The team is so helpful and we all work together to complete tasks which makes carrying out and completing work easier and less time consuming. The company itself is such a success and it is a honour to work for them.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JBW?
  • The work can sometimes seen repetitive as we get the same queries quite a lot but for different cases daily. If you are someone who gets distracted or easily misled or someone who gets bored quite quickly this might not be the best job choice for you as you might not reach your full potential.
