  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day includes supporting apprentices through their learner journey, this starts in the first instance with initial assessments to be able to plan this journey. We then use an electronic system to use as a visual guide to see the progression of the course, record the learning that they complete and the assessments that they undertake, we have to ensure that they are safeguarded and receive the learning that they need to match them as individuals

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since undergoing the course I am refreshing my knowledge in areas of coaching that I have used before, I am also learning new ways to help support the apprentices, especially on group sessions, this supports my competency and makes me feel more confident in my approach which in turn will reflect on the quality of what I am delivering to the groups of apprentices or on an individual basis, it has also taught me that I can always look at new ways to work

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The program is supporting my development so this can only be a good thing. I like the flexibility of how the course is run and how it fits in with my daily work, the scheduled sessions are pleasant and give support, my tutor is available for help outside of these sessions if I need additional support. I like that my employer gives me the opportunity to spend time in work to complete the assignments I am set. I am still able to work, learn and g]have a good work life balance.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The course from the onset was well planned the induction documents were all completed, the session to explain the course was well structured and I received the information prior so I could if I wished have a look at this to gain an understanding, this was good as it gave me the opportunity to ask questions about areas I wasn't sure of. I know what is expected timescales and what is available to help support my development.

  • I am fully supported by my employer. I was encouraged to complete the course initially, they are interested in what I am learning and how this is impacting on my daily role. I am give time for my studies and help if I need it. I can ask questions about any procedures I may need a little support with and I am learning more about the organisation as well which is great when I am speaking about my own experiences.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • In my role as a Tutor, having the opportunity to learn new skills that will support how I can deliver their apprenticeship learning is paramount to my continued development. Gaining new skills and refreshing the old skills is great as it gives me the opportunity to look at the way I deliver training and helps me to make the improvements to my sessions to make it more interesting for the people attending which will impact on their learning.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The team I work with are very close, it is a family feel to the business. We have regular weekly get together to discuss how we all are, coffee mornings on line to chat about anything but work, weekly Friday evening quiz nights. We have had team building days, the last one was based o the apprentice and was a great experience to work with colleagues that I wouldn't normally and have a bit of fun at the same time.
