  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Attending factory morning meetings to report back on stock that needs uplifting by supplier due to being out of specification. Dealing with suppliers daily on raw material issues, liaising with them and our warehouse team to book in collection of stock that is faulty. Tracking supplier credits that are owed to the business from faulty raw material stock on deliveries, ensuring we receive the money back for this as we are not using it in the factory

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned negotiation skills, focusing on using skills such as persuasion and providing benefits to people when going through change or proposing change. I have developed my communication skills, through presenting in front of different audiences, whether it was with a small group or a large crowd in a conference. This has benefited my confidence and skill in communication. I have developed my team working skills, through working with suppliers externally and through internal customers

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed the programme to a very, very, large extent. I have enjoyed not having to pay for student fees and that I have been receiving a salary on top of free education at university. however, there have been times where I have not fully enjoyed it, that has not been at many times, but it has been worth it in the long-term for my long-term career and my future life through developing skills, experience and knowledge.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • At the beginning we had an induction, had a clear layout of the modules/units for the 4 years. However, as it was a first set of cohort in this programme to do it, there have been many changes to the programme. This has at times made it very challenging as we may have done something already, and then throughout the 4 years we have been told to do it in a different way and to re-do it, this is to be expected

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received much support from multiple stakeholders from my employer. I have had a dedicated mentor throughout the 4 years, someone to go to, to talk about experiences in the business and about uni work. I have had support from the employer in being entitled to study days and to receive full pay whilst attending uni on uni days throughout the entire 4 years on the programme itself, which is a really supportive thing

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have received the sufficient the amount of support from university on assignments and guidance on the input within assignments. this has been through lectures in uni and also on email through looking at my work before i have submitted and also in helping me to prepare well before the Chartered management institute end point assessment and the business portofilio, through providing mock end point assessment video calls during the pandemic and getting feedback from this to improve

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • it has provided with more knowledge in management, in dealing with multiple people from different backgrounds, from suppliers, from people internally at work and being to manage them and dealing with them in the right approach that is ethical and good practise. it has also helped me in understanding the business and how to focus on cost minimisation and the ways and approaches to do this, example of kaizen techniques and six signam and lean efficiency drivers

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • at the moment there is none to due to coronavirus pandemic, however, there have been Christmas celebration and awards nights, I have been at job promoting days, promoting the business and the apprenticeships, in colleges, at uni and across the north west area throughout my time at the business. there have been charity events and this increased the number of networking events through night celebnrations of the charity event provifing support to Bolton hospice charity

  • Yes

  • yes, it is a good business, that is constantly expanding and growing and it has many opportunites acorss the busiens in difference areas and roles and management. it has support for continuous improvement of staff and their growth through cmi qualificatwion and apprentichesups and enginerring qualifications and many different accounting and finance qualifications with full sipport in funds and time for study time and for study day for exam time and support in good work life balance


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Stateside Foods?
  • be yourself, do your research on what the business does, what it focuses on in terms of people and what the main qulaiites and values and drivers it has in people to drive and suit to the business for a good fit for both parties. to wear smart formal clothing for any interview to set a good impression when first seeing your interviewing manager and to be on time and to ready to go, that is good to have
