  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to manage a team of up to 8 people. I am responsible in monitoring their performance in relation to key performance indicators and coach/train in new processes. i complete regular 121 meetings and also team meetings. i am also responsible for managing any performance issues and compiling action plans and training to support and reduce these.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • i have developed lots of new skills whilst completing my apprenticeship for example i have learnt about theoretical approaches in leading and management which i have been able to relate to and also put into my own practices. i have also learnt about organisational techniques which i have also been able to cascade to my team which in turn supports them.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • i have enjoyed working along side other apprentices on my cohort and sharing our views and practices. by sharing good/best practice it has helped me in looking at ways i can manage my team. i have also learnt about how my management styles have link to theorists and studies and also why this helps.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • i felt the program was very well organised and the structure flowed. my training and development officer was very supportive and helpful if i need any additional support. i have enjoyed this program and i have now enrolled one of my team members onto this and i look forward to seeing her development.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • my employer was very supportive, they allowed me time out to complete my classroom sessions and also supported me in my 20% off the job training. my employer also engaged in regular reviews with my training and development office and myself and also completed feedback and witness testimonies on my practice.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • my training and development office has been very helpful and supportive. she has been able to share her knowledge and experience which has supported my in my assignments. she has also given lots of feedback and areas for development and areas i completed well. we have be able to have 121 assessment discussions as well and this supports my preferred learning style.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • this qualification has really helped support me in my new management role. it has identified different leadership and management styles and how i can use these to support my team as a whole. it has also helped me identify my strengths and to continue to build on these and also areas for development to work on.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • during the week we have a well being Wednesday activities where the sector i work in come together to complete a well being task such as a walk or quiz. i have also been able to attend awards ceremonies where i have been able to network as well and meet professionals within the same sector and other sectors.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Interserve have been very supportive through out my apprenticeship. they have made me feel confident in my position and knowledge i have learnt. all my learning needs were taken into account and my manager was also encouraged to be actively involved and support my development as well.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Realise?
  • To be open to learn, they are very supportive and have so much knowledge to share. make sure your aware of the qualification you are applying for to ensure its the right one and be committed to learn.
