  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Operational management of therapy services and professional lead for allied health professionals. Management of budgets, service operation, HR, direct line management of 7 staff, with teams of 150 people within my remit.

  • Yes, enhanced my critical reflection and ability to identify my strengths and areas of development to develop my leadership style

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I'm enjoying it. I would have liked to have some face to face contact, but I do like to flexibility virtual is also offering. The topics covered so far have all been very interesting and relatable to my role.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Extremely well organised given the current pressures with the pandemic and it all having to be virtual. Clear communication and good use of technology

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have their support to attend and self manage my time to ensure that my 20% off the job learning is achievable. It's still relatively early to assess if I get more support than this

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Lots, there have been several additional drop in webinar sessions and tutors have responded to emails. The skills coaches have been great and we were given lots of support linked to study skills.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It is early into the programme, but the reflective leadership unit and access to an exec coach have already aided my performance.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not specifically at my work and nothing socially, but regionally I have really good professional networking support

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • As it is a smaller organisation, it helps with building good relationships across areas and teams. Within my areas the teams are dynamic and focussed on providing high quality service and providing development opportunities. There are lots of learning opportunities.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
  • Visit the organisation and speak to the teams.
