  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role Includes jobs such as working on the till, stocking shelves and re - organising shelves to maximise space for products. answering customer queries and complaints including processing refunds, answering questions such as prices of items and location of items my role also includes rotating stock ( ensuring products with the earliest use by date are at the front of the shelves so that they can be sold sooner) and also keeping the store clean and tidy

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Whilst doing my apprenticeship I have learned many new skills including time management, accuracy, customer service skills and efficiency skills. I have also been able to develop many skills including mathematical skills and efficiency. The company and training provider makes sure that you have the correct skills for the job role and give you opportunities to progress skills further through doing courses and training sessions. The company have been very supportive and have helped me improve my skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme very much. Every day we deal with different customers with different needs and I enjoy speaking to customer and dealing with queries or complaints. I am also given a lot of responsibility on the tills and working stock. The training is also excellent. All of the staff are very supportive and have helped me whilst doing the qualification. I enjoy the programme as there are many aspects to it and many opportunities to progress.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very organised there is a plan for 3 years which starts with store assistant and progresses over the 3 years to roles with higher responsibility.The company has also ensured there’s plenty of time to complete the course and also helped me with any parts of the course I was unsure of.The company has given me great training and ensured that I know everything before I started my shop floor work.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer. My store and area managers are very supportive and i have monthly meetings with them to discuss my progress. The company also offers several courses including customer service in order to improve my skills. I’m also assessed by my managers in order to see what I am good at and what I need to improve on. Overall my employer has been very supportive during the apprenticeship

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support from my training provider. I have monthly meeting with my tutor but I’m also able to contact her any time with any questions. The provider also has an app which has a lot of support and information if I need help with any of the work. My tutor also Regularly checks with me to see how I am doing and helps me with anything I am unsure of.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification has helped me perform better in my role because it’s given me more information and knowledge whilst dealing with customers, product knowledge, health and safety knowledge. How to deal with customer queries and complaints. And security information. The qualification has ensured I have all the information I need and this information has made me perform better in my role and improve many skills that is needed in the job role I am in.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I have been to events at our regional office and met staff from different stores. We also have an employee app which allows us to connect with other employees as well as take part in different training exercises and other activities. On the app the company is able to update me on any changes To the store such as P L U codes and also able to test employees on their knowledge of products.the app offers several extra curricular activities.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • ALDI offers great training, competitive salary and opportunities to progress within the company. The staff at ALDI have been very supportive during the apprenticeship. And the company are also very supportive offering many resources to support training and improve performance. ALDI offers several courses for all employees as the company wants the employees to have all the relevant knowledge and these courses are very helpful. ALDI is a great company to work for and I am very proud to work for them.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
  • ALDI is a great company to work for and it’s a fast paced environment so everyone that’s hoping to apply must remember that it’s hard work and very busy. Potential applicants must do their research on the company and applicants must enjoy talking to people and work very fast and efficiently. ALDI is a great company to work for but there are always high volume of applicants so make sure your application form stands out.
