  • I am responsible for managing the admin on my team- this includes raising orders, following a critical path and ensuring any errors are dealt with on the system. I have to email suppliers to negotiate orders. I use trackers to manage all orders.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed the programme and am glad i did it. However i do feel that as it was an admin apprenticeship a lot of it was repeated learning from what i had done at school in business studies.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is structured fairly well with the college, but I did find the organisation between the college and my work place lacking. There wasn't much communication between the two and this made it difficult for us on our teams at work as we have to explain it. I feel this could be improved.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We are allowed 20% of our week each week to spend doing college assignments/ studies and we get 5 studies days extra to use from september- september on top of our holiday allowance. I have received help and support from my team but as a whole we have to actively find people to give us support. However, i have felt supported throughout my apprenticeship.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has helped me with the admin side of my job and understanding businesses as a whole. Regarding the buying and merchandising side it has been helpful but i have learnt more doing my job role than from the apprenticeship itself. However there were definitely some lessons from the course which were really useful towards my job role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are training sessions we can book on to, and we did have a netball team but due to Covid-19 this has been cancelled.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Tesco to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a really good place to work and I am enjoying my time here. I like the work ethic and company morals and believe that they want each person to progress and have a successful, happy career. They pay well and offer lots of training to help progress yourself.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Tesco?
  • Be open-minded and enthusiastic. If you are passionate about something, be sure to make it known. Push yourself and step outside of your comfort zone as Tesco encourages this.
