  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • I was part of work experience for this company and I can honestly say it was the best work experience I have attended. The tasks/projects that were set were catered to be beneficial for our futures. I have been able to upskill myself and take away new skills. This company provided me with constructive criticism which I have taken on board and hopefully assist me in the future. I can honestly say if a job role came up in the future I would apply as the companies values are so honest and the positive culture is great to be around. Thank you.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • The core skills I got to develop during this work experience was: analytical skills, problem solving and communication. All of these skills were enhanced throughout the tasks as each task was really catered to meet a specific need. The feedback I received was really good and I have been able to take away some valuable points. One point being that you don't just judge a person by their CV in the recruitment and selection process.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • I loved my work experience and FRF really adapted well to the current circumstances as it was all done online. Even though it sounds like it wouldn't be the same I honestly can say I have taken away a lot of valuable skills and will use these in the future. The change of environment was really helpful and working as a group was really motivating.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • We was shown a timetable at the beginning to inform us on what the work experience was going to look like. This timetable was really helpful as we stuck to it and we knew exactly what was happening and when. Due to the current circumstances and this work experience online the use of Microsoft teams allowed us to know what meeting to join and when as it was in our calendar. I feel this was organised really well and we gained all the skills we were supposed to.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • We received an introduction to the business at the beginning which allowed us to understand the companies amazing vision and values. We then conducted quizzes throughout the work experience about the business so we retained knowledge on the business. In addition to this, we really got to see FRF positive business culture as everyone got on and we had a lot of fun. All the members of staff were really nice and supportive that it just made the experience even better.

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • I am looking for a degree apprenticeship so this work experience directly helped me in deciding this path as we had a Q&A session with existing degree apprenticeship members of staff who work for FRF. During this session I was able to ask the questions about a degree apprenticeship and all the staff were knowledgeable and helped me fully understand that this is still the path for me.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • I was not paid for this experience as I applied for it through my college. However I don't feel as if I would want any money or reimbursements for this experience as they provided me with experience that allowed me to develop myself and better myself for the future which may help me get a job in the future. This work experience also didnt cost me as it was held online.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • This work experience was led by 1 member of staff but there was around 10 employees who all participated. In meeting all of these employees I really got to see the type of person who is employed and they are all really kind, positive and helpful. At the end they suggested that we "link" on LinkedIn which may allow me to network with more employees from this company in the future.

  • 9a. Would you recommend First Response Finance Limited to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • As it was such a positive and beneficial experience towards the group and I. If it was beneficial to the whole group then it must be beneficial to a lot more other students if they get this opportunity in the future. I loved this experience and meeting all these people really allowed me to realise that this is the type of business I would want to work for in the future.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to First Response Finance Limited?
  • Some tips would be that this business doesn't just judge someone based off their CV as they like to make sure they would fit in with the culture and make sure they are the right one for the job and business. Even if that applicant doesn't have relevant experience they might be taken to the next stage based off potential. One other tip is to just be yourself as everyone in the business is so kind and friendly and so easy to get on with.
