  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a broadcast operator my day to day job involves working and shadowing on large and local tv shows with the sound, camera, vision departments. I get hands on experience on real shows working with the crew and learning how shows run and being a part of it.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The experience I have got is incredible, I have worked on some big amazing shows which still feels surreal. I’m so glad I chose this over University as you can’t get this sort of experience anywhere else then an apprenticeship at the BBC

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Sometimes it’s a bit messy as we have multiple managers in different locations and communications can be a bit slow and sticky but apart from that all of it is well organised

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Our managers are always there if we need help, or even just a social chat when we have time! If we need help and struggling I feel I will always be supported.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • They always let us know that they are there for us and make sure we are ok but sometimes feels like that’s just because they have too. Although saying that I believe they will help as much as they can if we ask

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification we are working towards is todo with IP and computing which really isn’t part of any job role I will do in the future. I feel there are much better courses out there that we could spend our time doing.

    4/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I know in some of the bigger offices there is much more social activities going on but in my office I’m not aware of much, yet I get on with all my colleges and it’s nice spending time them.
