  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to help develop and improve the business by bringing in and developing new technologies and processes. A lot of this is centralised around the generation and collection of useful data which can then be analysed to improve our ways of working at a site or head office level.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The course only commenced a couple of months ago but in that time I have already developed new skills which is helping me carry out my day to day job. Although I have used some of these skills partially already, having the theory behind it and the proper processes explained, i can take my work further.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The program is very enjoyable with like minded delegates all gathering on the same video calls to tackle the same challenges. The mentor who is running the course is also excellent and finds a good balance between the knowledge and social side of the course. There are also extra curricular activities and challenges which help keep the interest at a high standard.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program is very organised with a structured learning and development plan laid out from day 1. Even with the struggles of the Covid-19 pandemic at the start of the year, the course has still managed to keep up the momentum and structure as initially planned. There are also useful tools provided to help keep the course structured.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer and in particular the learning and development (HR) staff and my line manager fully support me on my learning journey. The programme requires 20% of my time (8 hours per week on average) committed to the course and it's nice to know that this commitment wont be challenged.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider has offered full support to meet my needs and requirements, having 1-to-1 coaching sessions and even offered time outside of the courses and those sessions to help me ask questions if required. They have also provided access to a knowledge sharing platform that the whole group can participate in and exchange ideas

  • The qualification centres around my role within the business and should provide me with the skills i need to further develop myself and improve processes and procedures I have already started using. It also provides me with the tools I need to develop new and interesting ideas that I may never have thought of originally.

  • Skanska do arrange regular social activities and employees are encouraged to attend these events including professional networking events and conferences.
