  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis we Carry out maintenance/repair tasks around site on assets that may be broke or at a time when they need routine maintenance.As well as this we carry out new installations to improve the station and have it running in a more efficient and economical state

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my time with this apprenticeship i definitely feel that i have learned new skills that i use on a daily basis at work to make the job easier and run in a efficient way. As well as this i feel that it has helped me to improve on my already existing skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy this programme as everyday it provides me the chance to learn new skills and develop my knowledge, work within a team environment and understand how your actions can impact your work and others around you and also that everyday your doing something different so no day is the same.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I'd say this is a very well organised and structured programme in the way you are inducted first to understand what is expected of you and what you are expected to achieve, as well as this the training they provide to give you a better knowledge for your job. Throughout this programme you are provide with constant support from your line managers and other employees which i find beneficial.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer in the way that he is constantly checking up on me to see now my college work is going or how i am personally to make sure i'm okay. This eases the pressure for me as i then feel more comfortable to talk to him if i ever have any problems.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I feel that i receive a lot of support from my training provider whilst working towards my qualifications as they are there to provide me with assistance and guidance if i have any problems or question that i have with work we've been carrying out or an assignment we have been set.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualifications that i will receive from my training provider will help me to preform better in my role as it will allow me to put what i have learnt on a theory side of things into practice when im at work, as well as this it also allows me to expand my knowledge and come into my role having a better understanding of the job.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At my work there are a few extra-curricular activities in which we can get involved in such as company events or even events in which thye help out the local community by carry out jobs which may need doing but they have not got round to doing which will benefit them.

  • 9a. Would you recommend SSE to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend this apprentice to a friend or someone i know of as i feel that it provides a good career path for you now and in the future as well as this i feel that it essentially sets you up for a job for life as long as you continue to do what is expected of you.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to SSE?
  • If i was to give anyone tips/advice when applying for SSE i would tell them to be themselves as i feel that this is the best thing you can do when applying for a job, but as well as this before you come to applying for the job or even at the interview stage make sure that you have a good understanding of the company and the role you are applying for and what they stand for and what is expected of you.
