  • Role day to day is planning and installing electrical equipment, wiring, distribution circuits and domestic houses electricity. Covered over a wide range and can vary from day to day such as one day on a site and the next in a domestic house.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes i learnt many new skills to do with electrical work and also to do with everyday life skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I extremely enjoyed my programme as it was exactly what i was looking for and suited my work ethic and who i am as a person. It allowed me to really become good at what i do by giving me a full range of learning.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was very well organised from start to finish, even all the college and travel was organised perfect to allow me to be able to get to and from without any worrys

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received alot of support from my employer in many ways from help with learning to help if i needed extra days off due to issues outside of work which was amazing support from everyone involved.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I received a lot of support from my training provider, in my experience i was struggling with one particular area and they allowed me to come back for an extra week to college and help me understand fully that area.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualification really helps as it allows people to recognise that i am at that level to do the work that is required

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • From my apprenticeship i was able to compete in the 3 peaks challenge which was a good social event as i had just started and i got to know everyone quite well.

  • Yes

  • I would recommend this to a friend as my experience was really rewarding and the skills and qualifications i have now from it are for life


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to SSE?
  • Try gain as much knowledge about the company as they can and get any experience in the area as they can as it will really benefit them.
