  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Team Manager in supported older persons housing, line manage a team of four, part time and full time staff. Including 1-2-1s, annual appraisal, deal any staff issues, run team meetings, budgets, health and safety, work with external agencies i'e social services.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Developed my emotional intelligence further. How to have challenging conversations, How to set smart objectives and how to handle performance issues.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Struggled at first but now have a better understanding of how the course flows so am able to enjoy the experience more. Picked up some good ideas and developing further existing skills as a result of the apprenticeship.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have found some of the activities don't always flow in line with some workshops which can cause some confusion. but overall well structured I prefer the remote workshops as these seem more focused and less tendency to go off on a tangent.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A lot, they allow us the time away from out job to concentrate on work needed to complete the course.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Meeting regularly with my tutor, she responds to emails quite promptly and fully answers any queries I have.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It provides me with tools and skills to be a better manager. Particularly in situations that are new to me (I took a 15 year break from management) or situations I've not always felt comfortable dealing with.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • None. Although we do have EDI groups and I'm co chair of our LGBT group.

  • Yes

  • It's a better company to work for than most.

  • Be positive, show your enthusiastic and have common sense Show that you're a team player and demonstrate how you take ownership and responsibility.
