  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work as a data analyst within a Europe Markets Procurement team In the Unilever Supply Chain department. In this role my main tasks are extracting and analysing data to find insights, using data analytic tools e.g. Power BI building, maintaining & interoperating databases. I also provide support for global teams with data queries, invoice queries & ADHOC tasks.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I work often with tools such as SAP, Excel, Power BI daily which have allowed me to learn and develop skills with these tools. As a part of my qualifications I also get to use other data tools e.g. MySQL Workbench, R Studio and Orange which broaden my skillset. Unilever also have an online learning platform you can use anytime that cover a wide range of topics.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy what I do. I work within a great team who support my development and make me feel like a valued member as I get to work with high level projects. The company culture is also very good, you feel welcome and they always encourage you to be your best as well as being happy to provide support where needed.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The overall structure of the programme. From Unilever's side, this is the first time the Procurement department has taken on apprentices and they have really done a great job of onboarding us and giving us great opportunities from the start. We get given a dedicated study day on a Friday to focus on the apprenticeship work and the team are happy to pick up any tasks I need to delegate.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive great support from my manager and mentors, weather that be at the office or during times I work from home. There is always someone to talk for guidance and there is easy accessibility to support where needed. The HR team also do a great job of helping the apprentices, such as when we needed to plan for traveling to Unilever events away from where we are based. They provided guidelines and support for accommodation, travel & reimbursing.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I enjoy the work and appreciate the support my training provider give. They are easy to contact and they are always happy to help. We have a call once a month to catch up on progress, what we are working on right now and if we require support on anything.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification I am working towards allows me to better understand how I can do my best work at Unilever. I have been able to apply the skills I have learnt and put them into practise and I have learnt more about my job from doing so. The programme also gives me experience with tools I do not normally use which helps to broaden my skillset and add these skills to my CV.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is a wide array of extra-curricular to get involved with at Unilever. These include sports teams/clubs, access to a on-site gym, charity fundraisers, wellbeing sessions, quizzes among many others. Unilever really encourage everyone to get involved in some way. We also have a few office outings a year organised. There is a great variety to do outside of the day-to-day work.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Unilever offer a wide range of apprenticeship programmes that will give you the skills and experience you cannot get with many other companies. There is a challenging learning curve, there is always things to learn and Unilever are happy will be happy to support you during and after your apprenticeship programme.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
  • Do your research on the company, it's apprenticeship programme, the application process and have a good idea of what you would like to do, as well as what the day-to-day things you would be doing. Unilever are most interested in what you are like as a person and they look out for people who come from a wide variety of backgrounds, with new ideas and show confidence. Also make sure to get involved with as many opportunities as you can that Unilever can offer.
