  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis I deal with guests either face to face or over the phone. I make there experience with us as comfortable as possible and I also handle any inconveniences that may occur. I make sure any paperwork is stored and locked away securely. I have to make sure I communicate clearly and effectively with all colleagues, this can be either during handover to the next person on shift or to housekeepers otherwise things could take a wrong turn and make everybody's day alot harder than it needs to be.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • In my roll I have learnt to be more confident in myself and around others, I have learnt how to develop my I.T skills, be more creative and how to think on my feet during a bad situation. Existing skills I developed during my role are how to communicate effectively to all team members to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have to honestly say that I completely 100% enjoy the programme I am on. It has helped me to develop all of my existing skills and learn new things, I meet new people, I get to build on my career and push myself to do things that I was not sure that I could do.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would have to say my apprenticeship is very well organised and structured. During my time on it so far, I have been given decent time schedules to finish a module and if I need help or don't understand anything then my assessor is only a phone call or message away and she is always happy to help.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is very supportive, he checks on me making sure that I am happy with the apprenticeship. If I have completed any work and I'm unsure of the finished document then he is always happy to have a look at it for me and give me any kind of feedback.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider is amazing. She was with me when I was at the end of my level 2 and she has been with me from the start on my level 3, I know I can ask her anything about the work I am doing and is always happy to help.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think it helps me perform better in my role as a receptionist as it gives you a bigger out look on the business. I have learnt so much from doing the level 3 like what goes into being a manager of a hotel and what other paths I could take. It has definitely opened my eyes to what goes on behind the scenes that some people don't know about.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Extra curricular activities in my place of work would have to be raising money for G.O.S.H (Great Ormand Street Hospital). We do things like a fun run together, making and selling treats during holidays like Easter and Christmas, raffles and we also run a tuck shop for all staff and all proceeds that we make go to the charity.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Whitbread to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Premier Inn is an amazing company to work for. Everyone is treated as family, we work together, we laugh together and support each other. You always come across new opportunities to better yourself and develop your career if that is something you would like to do. Everybody that works here are seen to have potential, to be better and that is a great feeling to be appreciated for all that we do.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread?
  • I would have to say to just be confident in yourself, know what you want and to go for it. Don't be afraid to speak your mind, smile and give it all you have. Employers love people who are full of positivity, be sure to ask your own questions during your interview and enjoy yourself.
