  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a service improvement analyst I will run reports on user experience data to find trends/patterns. I will use these to help make changes to overall improve the customer experience. I also work on other projects such as developing a new system or introducing new functionality to an existing system in the company.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy our apprenticeship program a lot! I love that we can rotate every 8 months around different areas of IT within the business. I also feel the support that we are given from our line managers is exceptional and they are very flexible with our university, personal and work needs. Our line managers will always actively seek out work opportunities that they believe will be interesting and help us develop further

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I personally feel that there is some structure to our programme but it could be better. We rotate around the business in IT every 8 months, which is great, but the process of finding a new rotation and submitting this choice could be further enhanced. I felt that the process wasn't very clear and there was a lack of communication on how the whole process would work

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • As mentioned in a previous section, I feel the support from our line managers is amazing and they are always flexible to our needs. I feel very confident in discussing any issues or questions with my line manager should they arise. I have always received an exceptional level of support from day one

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Our university provide a good level of support overall. Should we have any questions, our lecturers are happy to respond via email or alternatively in person if we are in university that day. We also have regular university reviews to discuss our progress and set academic goals. We can also use these reviews to raise any issues that we may have

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Overall there are some areas of the academic training can be applied to my working day in my role. Currently in this specific role, I don't feel that the current university work applies too much, however, this may change in the future as I rotate into different areas of the business.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We are given the opportunity to participate in careers events, to promote the AstraZeneca apprenticeship programs but overall it is working team dependent on what other activities apprentices get involved with. There could possibly be more of these style activities but personally I don't feel that I require these activities from my workplace.

  • 9a. Would you recommend AstraZeneca to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • My experience overall with AstraZeneca has been exceptional. They are providing me with amazing opportunists, I love the work that I do for the company and feel that I am helping work towards our goal of putting the patients first, even in IT. I love that I can rotate around IT every 8 months to gain a wide range of experience from different areas of the business

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AstraZeneca?
  • Do your research on the company, certainly around our values as they are an important part of our work. Try to demonstrate on your CV that you have got involved in lots of extra experience outside of normal education from school/college. Doing this will make yous stand out from the others who haven't done this.
