  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • For the past 18 months, I have been undertaking a Level 3 digital marketing apprenticeship course alongside Whitehat. I gained my employment from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment early last year and have since been understanding and implementing the ways of being a digital marketer, whilst using this opportunity to enhance my graphic design skills within an esteemed working environment. I have spent the year collating and detailing the evidence from my employment for my portfolio. This has pushed me to step out of my comfort zone numerous times and take on the many roles, besides my own as a Creative Services Apprentice, to fulfil the criteria specified to meet my digital marketing qualification. In this portfolio, I will be explaining exactly what, how and with whom it has taken to reach the many goals set for myself up until this point, firstly giving a brief outline of the business I work in.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my time at Warner I have become well-informed about topics that vary from the basic marketing principles and how to use them, to the customer engagement & market segmentation and why running a unique campaign with these qualities are important. This information has become very valuable to me whilst being in a working environment and has helped me in many ways daily. Being in a games department, with quite a small number of staff, I have been able to work intimately with my colleagues and have had the opportunity to get a taste of their duties within the business and Identify the importance of having everyone’s input within each campaign.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme opened up many possibilities and gave me life-changing changing experiences. I have taken part in huge projects that I have been inspired by in my youth and spent every day even more unique than the last. Of course, in busy periods work was a challenge but when you love what you do there is never a dull day in the office!

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme was well structured, I was given regular coursework, the opportunity to speak to my coaches whenever I needed their assistance and the support in the area's needed to achieve good results in my exams with Whitehat. I would recommend that any apprentice take full advantage of their line manager's support during their course should they ever need a helping hand.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer gave me all the support necessary, for example, on days where I needed to focus on the apprenticeship assignments, I was given the space to research, complete, and/or amend my coursework. This included working in a quiet study area, having extra lessons from my coach and being patient when I needed guidance on some of my tasks.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Though I had a moment of uncertainty as my first coach had moved on in her career, Whitehat was very supportive during this time and had a replacement for me within the month, so I could continue learning from where I had left off. I have able to excel even further since then.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My Digital Marketing qualification, although not directly associated with my Creative Services role has given me a healthy step outside of my comfort zone. I have been able to understand the business in shoes other than what I am used to and have been able to apply my new knowledge in ways that make my work for the company stand out.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I attended many social events during this time, from red carpets at movies premiers to video game launch events, this list is endless. One particular extra-curricular activity I am most proud of is being a member of the company's BRG "Being". I was able to represent our BAME employees and stand for something greater during my employment.
